Elroy Haverlah, author of “Kenney’s Fort,” has lived with his wife in Round Rock since 1989. He received his B.A. from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and his M.Div. from Luther Seminary in Minnesota. He has served as pastor of several congregations in Texas, including almost 20 years at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock. Since his retirement he has researched the history of this area, resulting in his first two novels, “Anna’s Journey” which is the story of Anna Palm, whose family was one of the first Swedish immigrants to Texas. His second novel, “Answering the Call,” is about Gustaf Berglund, one of the first pioneer pastors in Texas. His recently published historical novel, and the topic of his lecture, is about the first Anglo settlement in Williamson County, “Kenney’s Fort.”
