Painted Rock Rocksssanne Community Art Project

Painted Rock Rocksssanne Community Art Project

After more than two decades of captivating visitors of all ages, Rocksssanne, the Round Rock Public Library’s beloved ball python, prepares for retirement.

This January, as she turns 28 years old—well into the upper range of a ball python’s lifespan—the library will honor her 25 years of service with weeks of festivities leading up to her well-deserved retirement on March 1.

Many patrons and residents have fond memories of Rocksssanne, and we want to honor her with this community project.

Let Rocksssanne or your favorite library memories inspire your rock painting!

Rock Painting Details

  • Bring all painted rocks to the 2nd and 3rd-floor service desks.
  • Please, no extra large rocks.  Rocks should be smaller than the size of an adult fist.
  • Painted rocks will be accepted between 2/10 – 3/23.
  • The rock snake will be on display in the 1st floor window until 3/31.
  • Painted rocks will not be returned.
  • Rocks will be placed outside after the exhibit.

Instructions

  • You should always paint on clean rocks.
  •  If you find rocks outside to paint, wash them with soap and water. Then, let the stones thoroughly dry.
  • Choose a design.
  • We recommend using acrylic paint for both the base coat and your design.
  • You can also use paint pens to draw on your base coat.
  • If you want to seal your design, use an enamel spray or Mod Podge.
  • Bring the painted rock to the 3rd-floor service desk.
