Round Rock waste provider, Central Texas Refuse, acquired by Republic Services
The City of Round Rock’s waste service provider, Central Texas Refuse, announced this month that it has been acquired by Republic Services.
The most noticeable result of the acquisition will be new branding on the company’s carts and trucks in the coming months. The familiar Central Texas Refuse trucks and trash and recycling cans will gradually be updated with Republic Services’ iconic blue color. New or replacement waste carts will have blue bodies, with different lids to indicate trash or recycling.
Central Texas Refuse personnel remain in place and there are no route or schedule changes planned at this time.
“By having a larger service provider on board, we see this as an opportunity to enhance our waste management capabilities and to have the ability to pull in more resources when needed, including disaster situations,” said Michael Thane, Utilities and Environmental Services Director.
The contact number for waste management inquiries will stay the same at 512-255-4980. Billing will also continue in its current form, included in the City’s utility bill. Round Rock residents will also receive information about the transition in upcoming utility bills.
